What should I do if I have an emergency?

La Crosse Veterinary Clinic provides 24 hour emergency service through the regular clinic phone number (608)781-3466.  If you have a pet emergency at any time, call this number.  After hours your call will be forwarded to the veterinarian on call.  Please leave a message if there is no answer so the doctor can get back to you.  Remember the doctor may already be on another large or small animal emergency call, so be sure to leave a message.  Any non-emergency calls will be returned the next business day.

Rabbit PhotoWhat types of animals do you see?

La Crosse Veterinary Clinic sees both large and small animals.  Typically large animals such as beef and dairy cattle, swine, sheep, and goats are seen on the actual farm where they live.  In most cases, our veterinarians make these farm visits in the mornings.  Small animals such as dogs, cats, ferrets, rabbits, guinea pigs and hamsters are seen in the clinic by appointment.  At this time, the clinic does not offer veterinary care for birds, reptiles or horses.

What is your payment policy?

Payment is always due at the time of service.  We accept cash, check, MasterCard Visa, and Discover.  For emergencies or cases requiring extended hospitalization, a down payment of half the initial cost estimate may be required.  Please ask a staff member if you have questions regarding the payment policy.

What is acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a complementary treatment that might be indicated for your pet when other treatments for pain or dysfunction are not working.  Dr. Mark Mattison is certified by the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society and will be able to discuss any possible merit of adding acupuncture therapy to your pet's treatment.
