Flea and Tick Control

Not only are fleas and ticks annoying and uncomfortable for your pet, they carry a variety of diseases that can easily be transmitted through bites.

 We do not recommend using flea collars, shampoos, dips, or powders.  These products contain older pyrethrin based insecticides that can cause reactions and are less effective.  Generic topical products found over the counter are not recommended either. 

Frontline Plus®                                                                                       Frontline Plus® is a once a month topical application for control of fleas and ticks.  Frontline Plus® kills 98-100% of fleas within 24 hours.  Ticks are killed within 24-48 hours.  Frontline Plus® also carries an IGR (Insect Growth Regulator) to break the flea life cycle by killing flea eggs and larvae.  It is a reputable product with a wide margin of safety.  Frontline Plus® should be applied to a dry coat and remains waterproof for 30 days.  Frontline Plus® is available in four different sizes for dogs and one for cats.

Advantage®                                                                                     Advantage® is a once a month topical application for cats that kills 98-100% of fleas in 12 hours!  It is a very safe product with a satisfaction guarantee.  Advantage® is water-resistant and should be applied to a dry coat.  Advantage® for cats is available in two sizes based on your cat’s weight.

 When using any insecticide on a pet, be sure to read the entire warning label and instructions and verify that the product is made to be used on the correct species and weight of animal.  Never use a product designed for dogs on a cat!
