·Lacy·
Lacy Marie
was our tortoiseshell cat who celebrated her 17th birthday this
year! She was born in April of 1990. Lacy was the only survivor of
her litter and was brought to us by the humane society as a tiny
kitten. She was bottle-fed until she was old enough to make it on
her own. Lacy has always been very curious and playful.
Even in her last days, weakened by kidney failure, Lacy could still
be caught playing with her favorite banana toy or running friskily
through the clinic. Lacy had quite a few memorable adventures
over the years, including a trip home with one of our clients after
she snuck into their pet taxi. She loved laying in sunbeams,
and her fur was as soft as a rabbit's. Lacy battled chronic
cystitis of the bladder for much of her life, and we often joked
that Lacy could have no other home but at a veterinary clinic.
Surely no one else would have the patience to deal with her
inappropriate urination. Just the same, we loved her very
much. She was always ready to cuddle, and could melt your
heart with her purr. She had no fear of dogs no matter what
their size! Lacy loved pruning our plants and taking short
trips out the back door to snack on grass. She never seemed to
mind the countless times we volunteered her to be a "demo cat", just
another hazard of the job as clinic mascot. Lacy was a very
social, playful, loveable cat, and a fixture here at the clinic for
over 17 years. On September 4th we said goodbye to our Lacy
Marie.
We miss her
dearly, and we'll never forget her.
